Sick Pay and Pensions
Sick Pay
In Denmark, you have a right to sick pay if you have had 13 weeks of continuousemployment before the first day of your illness and, in this period, have worked at least 120 hours.Employment in your country of origin also counts. Also included in this employment period are periods of unemployment in which one has received unemployment pay.

Maternity Pay
If the conditions for receiving sick pay are fulfilled, you also have a right to maternity pay in connection with both childbirth and adoption.

Pension

In general or as a rule, the right to a Danish pension is dependent upon Danish citizenship. The qualifying period for a Danish pension is between the ages 15 to 65.

But the need for Danish citizenship can be negated if, in the qualifying period, you have been in continuous employment for one year in Denmark. Applicants for this must show documentary proof of such employment in Denmark.

A full Danish pension is paid after 40 years of employment in Denmark. If one does not have the right to a full Danish pension, the pension will be fixed in relation to the actual period of Danish employment.

Unemployment insurance
In Denmark, unemployment insurance is not obligatorary. An employee should considerbecoming a member of an A-kasse (unemployment fund). The Arbejdsdirektoratet can tell you which A-kasse you should consider registering with.
